Our vision for Baby Byrd Farm is a place where women can come to get reconnected back to themselves through the land and the changing seasons. It is a place where children can explore nature and learn about their heritage. Through intentionally nurtured gardens, agricultural learning, community gatherings, and locally grown and made products, the farm will cultivate a community rooted in education, stewardship, and connection.
We believe a thriving farm includes more than crops. Every part of the ecosystem has a role to play, and our goal is to create a farm where those relationships can flourish.
Our growing practices will include:
✽ Building healthy soil with compost and cover crops
✽ Minimizing soil disturbance whenever possible
✽ Rotating crops to improve fertility and reduce pests
✽ Planting diverse crops to support biodiversity
✽ Providing habitat for pollinators and beneficial insects
✽ Conserving water through efficient irrigation and mulch
✽ Reducing synthetic inputs whenever practical
✽ Composting plant material to return nutrients to the soil
✽ Observing and adapting to the rhythms of each season
Vegetables grown for freshness and flavor. Our fields will reflect the rhythm of the seasons.
Flowers, including a mix of native wildflowers, pollinator plants, and cut flowers that support wildlife while bringing beauty indoors.
Herbs that inspire everyday cooking and are traditionally valued for wellness and herbal preparations.
We know this will not be an overnight journey but we’re committed to learning, observing, and improving with each passing season.
